The HUD

The HUD is a sim experience you’ll need to accept to be able to teleport around the sim. When setting your name, use the name you wish to appear in your titler, not your username. 

This HUD page is under construction and only used currently by staff and scripters.


HUD Menus:

*HUD appears as a large button on the center bottom of the screen. 

Following buttons on the screen: 

  • Bottom Left: Shield
  • Middle Left: Non-Combat Roll Against
  • Middle Top: Attack
  • Top: Non-Combat Flat Roll
  • Top Right: Heal Self
  • Middle Right: Heal Other
  • Bottom Right: Reset Personal Health
  • Center: Large button. Click to expand in the pop-up menu.
  • Flat Roll -> D100 roll. 
  • Attack -> See combat section.
  • Shield -> See combat section.
  • Non-Combat -> Select Player -> D100 versus D100 flat roll. “Player1 rolls (D100 + Bias) against Player2 (D100 + Bias) for a non-combat roll. Player1 wins the roll.”
  • ​Heal Self -> Rolls to see if heal self works. Based on a flat roll. Over 50 = yes 1 point. Under 50 = no. Will not heal above Health stat pool.
  • Heal Other -> Choose a player from pop up. Rolls to see if heal another player works. Over 50 = yes 1 point. Under 50 = no. Will not heal above Health stat pool.
  • Reset Health -> Does full self-health heal. Will not heal above Health stat pool.

* Expanded Menu:

  • Astrium Site -> Opens Webpage
  • OOC -> Toggles “OOC” Tag

Characters:

  • Youth -> Toggles “Youth” tag
  • Retire -> Self retires character
  • Novem -> Spends XP -> Menu pops up with purchase options and cost
  • Switch -> Changes character
  • New -> Create new character
  • Work -> Opens the menu with all free work options
  • Rename -> Allows self rename. Also asks for a nickname.

Titler:

  • Colour -> Changes titler colour
  • Set Text -> Changes custom text
  • Altitude -> Changes the height of titler
  • HUD -> Selects from various HUD textures.

Staff -> when non-staff click, nothing happens

  • Rename -> Renames other character
  • Retire -> Retires other character
  • Rank -> Grants Storyteller / Staff / NPC status
  • Class -> Grants class
  • HUD -> Changes floating text above the big button
  • Novem -> Grants bonuses
  • Event -> Starts and ends Event. Event grants 2 extra Novem bonus during event run.
  • Storyteller -> Opens storyteller granted work options menu and lists. When non-staff and non-storytellers click, nothing happens.

Upon First Attachment

  • —Welcome Message— “Welcome to Astrium! Please keep in mind we expect all avatars to wear appropriate clothing. For more information about the sim and rules please see You must accept the HUD to use the teleports around the sim and participate in events. To learn more about the HUD please see Thank you!”
  • —Character Name Screen— “Please enter your character’s name as you wish it to appear when you post.”
  • —Racial Select Screen— “Please select the Racial Category your character most closely resembles. For more information please see
  • —Novem Purchase Screen— “Novem is our currency! This may be used to purchase bonuses and modifiers. You currently have 6 Novem to spend.”
  • —Final Screen— “You are now finished character creation! Please remember all NPCs and signs on the sim are clickable. Some areas may have important information as you walk through so watch for HUD popups! Thank you!”

Currency, Class, Work, and XP: WIP

  • In this system, the currency is Novem. Novem is 1 XP = 1 Point. 
  • “You have x Novem to spend.”
  • All players start off with 6 free Novem.
  • Novem is given during active RP through /me and /2 posts and /3. No visit XP.
  • Hidden currency on the sim. Click the item on the sim and is given “Novem”. Useful for quests and events.
  • Upon Novem gain message appears “You have –XP– Novem to spend.”

* Class system. Changes how much Novem is gained. The class must be changed by staff only. 

Classes Available: 

  • Citizen: 1 Novem per week.
  • Baron(ess): 2 Novem per week
  • Visiting Dignitary: 2 Novem per week
  • Count(ess): 3 Novem per week
  • Duke / Duchess: 4 Novem per week
  • Diplomat): 4 Novem per week
  • Prince(ss) Consort: 4 Novem per week
  • Prince(ss): 4 Novem per week
  • Sovereign Consort: 5 Novem per week
  • Sovereign: 5 Novem per week
  • Deity: 6 Novem per week

  • Work stats. The player may select from a list of available work. They may also set a custom work title. 
  • Main -> Characters -> Work -> Work Options Here
  • When joined to Storyteller given workgroups such as Knights, the currency is increased. Each rank gives more currency.

  • Children’s Home Headmaster: 3 Novem Per Week
  • Farm Owner: 3 Novem Per Week
  • The Dwarven Anvil Smithy Owner: 3 Novem Per Week
  • Steward / Head Librarian: 3 Novem Per Week
  • Patron Healer: 3 Novem per Week
  • Merchant’s Guild Chairman: 4 Novem per Week

Rental Voucher Costs:

  • Multiple players may hand in vouchers to stack.
  • May not be stacked between the same player characters.
  • 25 Prim / Week: 2 Novem

  • 100 Prim / Week: 8 Novem

Character and Titler:

* Multiple character option:

  • Main -> Characters -> New
  • Main -> Characters -> Switch
  • Main -> Characters -> Retire Character

* Linked character stats.

  • Same stats, different title, and name.
  • Main -> Characters -> Linked
  • Linked -> New / Switch
  • New -> Choose Character -> Set New Nickname + Name 
  • Switch -> Choose Character -> Choose Linked

* Characters set “name” and “nickname” upon creation.

  • The name appears in the titler. Nickname appears with /2. ​
  • Main -> Characters -> Rename -> Set Name -> Set Nickname

* Move titler up and down, set text, or to change titler colours. 

  • Main -> Titler -> Altitude / Colour / Set Text
  • Main -> Characters -> Youth Tag
  • Main -> OOC Tag

* To post:

  • /2 (which will post as “Character: [Post]”)
  • /2/me (“Character [post]”)
  • /3 to post without name appearing. (“[post]”)

Staff:

* Admins have a button in the staff menu of HUD to add people to Storytellers or Staff

  • Main -> Staff -> Rank -> Player Username -> Demote / Promote -> Storyteller / Staff -> Are You Sure? -> Yes / No

* Admins have a button in the staff menu of HUD to rename or retire someone’s character.

  • Main -> Staff -> Retire -> Character -> Yes / No
  • Main -> Staff -> Rename -> Character -> Yes / No

* Admins have a button in the staff menu of HUD to grant currency bonuses.

  • Main -> Staff -> Novem -> Character -> Amount

* Admins have a button in the staff menu of HUD to change a player’s titler text

  • Main -> Staff -> Titler -> Character -> Set Text Here

* Admin or Storytellers click an “Event” button under the Staff menu of HUD. Event grants 2 extra Novem bonus during the event run.

  • Main -> Staff -> Event

* Admins have the ability to change the class of players.

  • Main -> Staff -> Class -> Citizen / Baron(ess) / Visiting Dignitary / Count(ess) / Duke / Duchess / Diplomat / Prince(ss) Consort / Prince(ss) / Sovereign Consort / Sovereign / Deity

Storytellers:

* Storytellers have a button in the staff menu of HUD to add and remove people from respective fields.

Example Menu Flow:

  • Main -> Storyteller -> Commander -> Knight / Guards -> Remove / Demote / Promote
    • Knight Ranks: Squire / Royal Knight / Knight Captain / Knight Commander 
    • Guard Ranks: Guard Trainee / Royal Guard / Guard Sergeant
  • Main -> Storyteller -> Academy -> Remove / Demote / Promote
    • Ranks: Arcana Academia Student / Arcana Academia Teacher / Arcana Academia Headmaster
  • Main -> Storyteller -> Farm -> Remove / Demote / Promote
    • Ranks: Farmhand / Farm Owner

* Storytellers may access a list of players under certain factions. 

  • Main -> Storyteller -> Lists -> Work / Class / Staff / Storytellers -> Lists Here
    • Work List: Farm / Academy / Knights / Healers / Smith / Tavern / Bathhouse etc
    • Class List: Citizen / Baron(ess) / Visiting Dignitary / Count(ess) / Duke / Duchess / Diplomat / Prince(ss) Consort / Prince(ss) / Sovereign Consort / Sovereign / Deity   

* Storytellers have a button to add a new field, including ranks.

Misc:

  • NPCs. Slip a script into an object, players may click the object for information.
  • NPCs are given preset Attack / Defense and Health stats for combat.
  • Players may see NPCS in Attack roll menu as well as Players.
  • Built-in teleport system. Collision teleports as well as clickable. 
  • When passing through a prim, a pop up appears with information.

Combat:

  1. Stat Pools Start:
    1. Flat: 0
    2. Defense: 0
    3. Attack: 0
    4. Health: 5
  2. Option to distribute 10 points between stats.
  3. Attacks deal 1 damage.
  4. Combat example:
    • Player1 = Defense: 3 / Attack: 5 / Health: 7
      Player2 = Defense: 5 / Attack: 5 / Health: 5

      Player1 presses the attack button on HUD. 
      Dice is rolled automatically.
      “Player1 rolls (D100 + Bias) against Player2 (D100 + Bias) for an attack roll. Player1 wins the roll.”
      Player2’s health is now 4.

      Player2 presses the attack button.
      “Player2 rolls (D100 + Bias) against Player1 (D100 + Bias) for an attack roll. Player2 wins the roll.”
      Player1’s health is now 6.

      Player2 attempts to flee.
      Player 1 attempts to stop them. To do so, they attack.
      “Player1 rolls (D100 + Bias) against Player2 (D100 + Bias) for an attack roll. Player1 wins the roll.”
      Player2’s health is now 3.
      Player2 did not flee.

      Player1 attempts to flee.
      Player2 attempts to stop them. They use a non-lethal attack.
      For this, they press the Non-Combat roll.
      “Player2 rolls (D100 + Bias) against Player1 (D100 + Bias) for a non-combat roll. Player2 wins the roll.”
      Player1 does not escape. No damage is dealt.

      Player2 heals self.
      “Player2 rolls (D100 + Bias) to heal self. Player2 wins the rolls. Health increased +1.”
      Player2’s health is now 4.

      Player1 clicks ‘Shield’. Player1 chooses Player3.
      “All attacks against Player3 are redirected to Player1.”
      This lasts until Player1 fails to defend.
  5. NPC combat works the same as Player vs Player combat. 
    • NPCs are given preset Attack / Defense and Health stats for combat.
    • Players may see NPCS in Attack roll menu as well as Players.
  6. Items purchased through the Novem system may alter stats temporarily.
